New Year's Eve - Dec. 31st, 2009

What a holiday. Had 30 over for Christmas dinner. Wonderful time. Boxing day brought an ice storm and loss of power. Our emergency generator failed. Got it working the 2nd day after changing the battery. I will post a few pictures. Tomorrow we are having a party with skating on the ice. Will test it out later today. Going to have toboggan races as well. Can't wait to bring in the New Year. Hoping everyone has a safe holiday and a wonderful New Year.

Christmas lights - Dec. 9th, 2009

It has been a while since I added pictures. I took these a while ago. Christmas lights look so nice. This year we bought a real tree and put it in the cottage room (sun room). The old tree went in the basement. The lights on the outside of the house went up almost perfectly. One strand didn't light but had to take pictures anyway. They all work now. Boy did it snow today. Should have taken pictures of our fist time shovelling - next time. Enjoy and Happy Holidays to all.

Moved in Oct.16, today is Nov.4th back at last

Can't believe it has been so long since I have updated the blog. Wanted all to have the house finished before adding pictures but it is taking time to have everything done. Couldn't wait, so here we go. Enjoy the pictures. More to come. Moved in Oct. 16th. The sun rise picture was taken Oct. 25th - beautiful. The moon picture and others were taken this evening, Nov. 4th.

Lights, some tile - before Oct. 8th

We took these pictures probably a week ago. Didn't post them yet. Decided to add them to the blog as I haven't been to the house lately to take any new pictures. Too busy. We were going to move in on the weekend but some items are pending. The closing is delayed but no worries, will be at the house on the weekend to take more pictures. For now, enjoy these.

Top Soil, retaining wall, stairs & slate - Sept. 24th

Went after work to see how the top soil was coming along. We purchased the top soil from a near by supplier. Put some seed in, no time to do the entire area. Will come back on the weekend to finish seeding and water. Rain on Sunday, good thing. The retaining wall is added. The stones are man made. The slate on the fireplace and sunroom have been sealed. Gives a darker look. The railing is completed, nice.

No time to visit but wanted to add pictures - Sept.22

I was looking at pictures taken from the last trip and thought I could post some more. No time to visit the house since Sept. 19th. Added a view of the back of the house; my tea cabinet for my 50 or so Teaopia Teas (green, white, herbal, rooibos, wellness herbal, fruit blends, mate and only 2 black); the start of the neighbours house on our left as you face the lake and the sunroom with fan.

Lights, cupboards, start of railing and trees - Sept. 19th

Beautiful fall day. Went early to the house to work on planting trees and meet with the builder. Bought five blue spruce trees. The kitchen island was moved over a few inches, cupboards continue to be installed. The lights are in, wonderful. As the days are getting shorter, with lights we can go later in the evening. Went back at night to see the house with lights on outside. Unfortunately, didn't have the camera for the night lights. Should have brought our sleeping bags and stayed over. The railing has started, spindals next. We are back tomorrow to talk about paint colours for the doors and pillars outside.

Cabinets / Kitchen - Sept. 12th

Beautiful day. The kitchen is started. Quite a contrast in colours. Light cabinets in the back and dark on the island. The rest of the cabinets in the house are the same colour as the island. Can't wait to see the finished kitchen. The cabinets in the laundry room and the counter are being installed. Master bath under construction. Could have stayed all day in the house. Had to leave to pick up Mom and go shopping and out to dinner.

Kitchen, tub, door, number, floor - Sept. 11th

Quick trip, lots going on. The kitchen is being installed - I will wait until tomorrow to add kitchen pictures. My tub has arrived. It took 4 men to lift the tub. The house number is in. Front door installed, to be painted later. Floating floor in the basement. It is all coming together. Till tomorrow.

Paint colour and moon rise - Sept. 5th

Spent the afternoon and evening at the house. Brought our plastic muskoka chairs and sat on the hill by the lake, sipping a glass of wine. So peaceful. Misha was running in the tall grass, she was hard to see - just saw a flash of fur zip around in circles. Picked up dinner at Farm Boy, they have gluten free prepared foods. Ate on the small deck with a view of the lake. It got cool, had to put on a jacket. Went for a walk around the lake. Once back at the house, we went on the big deck and took pictures of the moon rise. What a nice view with the reflection on the lake. Soon after, we packed up and drove back to Orleans. The picture of the wall colour is the new colour in the master bath room called "fusion".

Pillars, hardwood & outside pot lights- Sept. 2nd

Drove out to the house after supper, lots of driving this summer. Met some of the neighbours. So much fun listening to their dreams come true. Should be a great community. The outside pillars are front and centre. They will be painted. Love the look. The hardwood is finished upstairs. Now to keep Misha from scratching them! Noticed some outside pot lights, had to take a picture. Won't be long now.
