Passing by on way to 40th birthday party - May 30th

Some progress on the house even though it rained for 3 days last week. We stopped by to see the progress while on our way to a 40th birthday party. What a gorgeous day but cool. This way we didn't have bugs to deal with. The house is taking shape. I try to stick to 3 pictures per plog but had to add a 4th to show the camp fire at the 40th birthday party. Had a great time at the party, we will almost be neighbours!

Visit to talk about grading, May 26, 2009

We went at lunch to discuss the grading with the builder. Didn't have the camera but our neighbour took pictures and sent them to us. We have upstairs walls. Stood inside the upstairs and got a good feeling of the view from each room and the size. Looks incredible. It was sunny, cool and windy (no bugs). Next 3 days are rainy. Progress will slow down but not for long.

Framing and new window - May 23, 2009

We moved today and took a break after supper to see the progress on the house. Wow. Our new window opening was added on the side. The floor is in. Standing on the floor where the kitchen dinette will be gives us a great idea of the view we will have. As we are standing there, we are being eaten by mosquitos. They are hungry. Didn't stay too long, had to go back home and unpack and get ready for more moving tomorrow. Feels good to have this phase of the process done. Thank you to everyone who helped us move. See you again in 6 months!

Framing and Back Fill - May 20, 2009

Lots of activity at the lot today. They back filled and did lots of framing. Had to drive over and take some pictures of the progress. Can't believe how much was done. The day started out cold and rainy and ended up sunny and warm. The rest of the week looks like it will be sunny and warm so expecting lots more progress. Will be back in a few days. Amazing.

Platon on walls and start of floor - May 18th, 2009

We drove out to view the progress on the house. The platon has been added to the cement walls - done last Thursday & Friday. It looks like bubble plastic wrap. Today is a holiday Monday but the framers were working on starting the floor. Gorgeous day. Met the new neighbours on the left as you view the lake. They will be starting to build soon. The lake is coming alive.

Foundation is poured - May 13th, 2009

Drove out to the lot with Mom, Rod & Misha, got there just before dusk. Mosquitos were flying around but not biting. The walls look tall and solid. Walked around the foundation and stood inside. Feels open because of the walkout, what a view we will have!

Forms have started - May 8th

Beautiful day to visit, drove over on our way home from work. The forms have started. Today is Friday so no more work until next week. Wanted to show a picture of the lake. It was so beautiful and peaceful. The smell of the trees and plants was lovely. So much fun watching our home come to life, the home we designed. Now off to reality, this weekend we are doing another bottle drive. This is # 3. Need to pick up Robert's trailer and get ready.

May 3rd visit with Rod, Gen, Mandy & Misha

What a beautiful day. Went to pick rocks for the future camp fire pit and landscaping. Claudine, our new neighbour came over. She loves Misha! Rod, Mandy and I walked 15 km. before coming over and another 5 km. after supper. All training for the Weekend to end breast cancer coming up in one month.

Gravel and Footings

Today is May 2nd. We have taken earlier pictures of the start of our home and took some of the footings today. Rod picked rocks from the piles of dirt for later use such as the camp fire pit.
